Senior Project Engineer - Miami, Florida - CCS

Position Summary: The Senior Project Engineer works directly with the Project Manager to aid in managing a range of projects, while applying knowledge of structural engineering and façade restoration. The SPE is responsible for completing structural analysis, preparing plans and specifications, and reviewing contractor submittals, shop drawings, and RFIs. Engineering Skills and Responsibilities: • Overseeing and supervising the progress of projects in the field • Performs quality control on construction documents and assist with specifications writing and maintaining cost databases • Preparation and review of engineering drawings, specifications, calculations, reports, and correspondence with guidance from supervisor(s) and project team • Prepares clear and accurate reports outlining the cause and source of failure • Construction Administration, including preparation and review of shop drawings, submittals, RFIs, and field observation • Participates in internal and external meetings with clients and design team members Communications Skills: • Strong verbal and written communication skills, ensuring clear and effective communication with all parties including clients, teammates and management • Writes accurate and clear correspondence and reports for project inclusion and publication • Understands client and business relationship and all interactions with clients are professional and respectful • Provides and obtains accurate and valuable input to/from teammates and management to maintain and cultivate client relationships • Effectively runs meetings in a professional, efficient manner • Undertakes public speaking responsibilities and deliver presentations in a seamless, organized, professional manner • Consistently and effectively provides information and feedback, both positive and negative, to teammates and clients in a person-centric, fact-based, professional manner • Utilizes professional, effective negotiation skills and the ability to close a sale while maintaining a positive client relationship Business Development and Revenue Generation: • Understands the importance of resource utilization, project budget and collected revenue/labor ratios and ensures they are given correct consideration and monitored accurately • Understands the importance of the DeSimone utilization rate and multiplier and ensures they are given correct consideration in all aspects of work undertaken and ensures they are monitored accurately for self and teammates • Works with scope items and accurately charges own labor to proper project numbers and ensures this accuracy for other staff on the project • Provides input concerning project budgeting and collections • Prepare fee proposals for issuing to clients and provides training to teammates • Aware of and understands specific project scope, contracts and related subjects and provides guidance to teammates • Aware of and understands the business's project financial reports • Contributes to Business Development efforts through developing and nurturing positive and professional client relationships • Actively supports the business with Business Development initiatives • Develops and nurture network of contacts and begin taking active steps to self-generate business from own network • Promotes self and DeSimone within industry through variety of formats including attending events, undertaking networking, presenting at events and on webinars, writing articles, utilizing LinkedIn and other relevant formats • Identifies new business opportunities and stay up to date with market trends and competitor activity • Aware of range of DeSimone business offering and be aware of on-selling opportunities Teamwork and Leadership: • Exemplifies the company values and culture code • Provides training and mentoring on technical skills, soft skills and company processes to project team, direct reports and other teammates • Implements effective motivational strategies, supporting the team to achieve high performance and excellent outcomes • Demonstrates commitment to project goals and applies extra effort when necessary • Manages self and workload and prioritizes effectively to ensure work is completed and deadlines are achieved • Develops and maintains positive and professional teammate relationships across disciplines and teams • Maintains a positive, can-do attitude and constructive approach to projects and teamwork • Actively contributes in a positive manner to the internal office and project teams • Fosters a positive and inclusive organizational culture, emphasizing teamwork, accountability and professional development • Developing strong leadership skills and positively contributes to project team and inter-office issues • Increasing responsibility to lead, supervise and direct an internal project team with guidance from senior teammates as required • Receives training, guidance and direction in a positive manner. The hiring salary range for this role is anticipated to be $88,000 - $95,000 dependent upon experience and qualifications. For this particular position, we expect to hire near the middle of the range. To be considered for this role, we are looking for candidates with a Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering, or related field with 7 years of experience in structural engineering with emphasis on building restoration; or a Master's Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering, or related field with 5 years of experience in structural engineering with emphasis on building restoration. We understand that there may be rare and exceptional circumstances where an external candidate has experience, credentials, or expertise that far exceed those required or expected for the position. Position Summary: As a Building Inspector you will be working to ensure that construction is progressing in compliance with the project specifications and performing structural and façade inspections to include CMU, cast-in-place concrete, reinforcing steel, shoring/reshoring, post tension cable, precast/prestress members, light-gage metal studs, exterior window systems, roofing and waterproofing, stucco, and wood frame systems. This position requires a physical ability to navigate typical construction terrain, be capable of safely performing tasks while positioned on a swing stage, and climb ladders to access remote areas. Primary Responsibilities: • Perform inspections of structural and façade components in new and existing construction. • Perform Threshold inspections, including CMUs, place concrete, reinforcing steel, shoring/reshoring, post-tensioned cable, glass and glazing, stucco, roofing, and waterproofing. • Document field observations by transmitting daily and weekly reports detailing site activities. • Perform destructive and non-destructive testing on construction, performing structural surveys, coring, and chipping. • Perform observations of structural steel and reinforcing steel, observation of exterior conditions, insulation finishing systems, waterproofing, roofing, and glass and glazing assemblies. • Communicate daily with site contractors, other technicians, and project managers. • Supervisory requirements? • Client interaction/Involvement? • Florida Building Inspector License required within three years of employment.  Requirements and Preferred Qualifications: • Minimum of five (5) years of verifiable experience inspecting structural components and façade of building structures and field inspections • Professional Engineers License and certification from ICC, AISC and/or ACI • State inspection certification required • This position necessitates periodic travel, primarily within the state • Perform tasks while positioned on a swing stage at heights exceeding +75 feet or higher. • Perform inspections during weekends (40 weeks out of 52 weeks/year). • Inspections will also be performed after hours. • Minimum of 3 year's experience working with dedicated software such as Procore, Fieldwire, and Plangrid required Why Work at DeSimone? Project Facade Specialist

Structural Project Manager - Miami

Independent problem solving, decision-making and the implementation of standard engineering procedures are used to direct the flow of engineering work as well as overseeing production work of junior engineers and BIM technicians.
