    Advanced Analytics Consultant - Actuarial Science Location: Chicago, IL; Indianapolis, IN; Richmond, VA; Miami, FL; Atlanta, GA (preferred). This role requires associates to be in-office 1 - 2 days per week, fostering collaboration and connectivity, while providing flexibility to support productivity and work-life balance. The Advanced Analytics Consultant is responsible for serving as an expert in data analysis, reporting and formulating recommendations and providing guidance to Carelonâs sales and growth team. Acts as a primary consultant in performance-based pricing arrangements, medical expense savings and target setting, and discusses financial savings tied directly to Carelonâs programs. How you will make an impact: Provide expert consult to key business stakeholders and clients on financial results, methodologies, key findings, and recommendations to mitigate unnecessary financial exposure. Analyze complex datasets from various sources, including medical claims and managed care operations, to identify growth opportunities and optimize business strategies. Develops and analyzes business performance reports (e.g. for claims data, provider data, utilization data) and provides notations of performance deviations and anomalies. Consults on all considerations related to designing and executing tests or pilot programs. Contributes to the design of new programs/initiatives based on test/pilot outcomes. Develops targeting criteria or customer segmentation based on analytical insights, clinical inputs, product design, and operations considerations. Develops predictive models and other tools that help target the right members. Develops methodology to measure clinical, utilization, and financial outcomes of a program/initiative. Conducts in-depth research to address challenging issues in measuring outcomes. Provide expert consult to key business stakeholders and clients on financial results, methodologies, key findings, and recommendations to mitigate unnecessary financial exposure. Generate insights from data analyses to recommend actionable strategies for improving competitive positioning and market share. Addresses the limitation of certain data sources and evaluates the incremental value of new data sources. Minimum Requirements: Requires MS, MA, or PhD with concentration in a quantitative discipline such as Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Epidemiology, Engineering, Computer Science or Operations Research and a minimum of 5 years experience in related health care analytics; or any combination of education and experience which would provide an equivalent background. Preferred Skills, Capabilities, and Experiences: Actuarial sciences background highly preferred. Experience with developing expert modeling systems for segmentation/stratification that supports customized strategies for different customer segments in a major industry highly desirable - healthcare, financial, database/direct marketing, online retail, consulting, etc. Substantial analytical experience in the healthcare industry preferred. Actuarial experience within a healthcare and/or managed care organization preferred Advanced expertise with SAS or equivalent analytical tools strongly preferred. Comprehensive experience with Teradata, SQL, or equivalent data databases strongly preferred. Expertise in advanced statistics, machine learning, data visualization, and data extraction/manipulation techniques preferred. Strong understanding of actuarial principles and managed care operations preferred. Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to convey complex information to non-technical stakeholders preferred. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment preferred.
