Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Construction Administrator to join our team in South Florida. This individual will support large, high-profile healthcare projects in Broward and Miami Dade County. The role involves managing construction phase activities, ensuring compliance with building codes, and fostering strong relationships with project stakeholders.
Responsibilities
• Make high-impact decisions in the application of codes and building systems.
• Lead the team through construction phase activities for multiple concurrent projects, including jobsite meetings, correspondence, submittals, and payment application reviews.
• Work closely with the Owner, Architect/Engineer Team, and Contractor representatives to achieve project goals and requirements.
• Apply knowledge of codes and all types of building systems (architectural, civil, structural, etc.) proactively to projects.
• Review and manage Requests for Information (RFI) and submittals, maintaining current documents using internal construction document management software.
• Communicate effectively with the design team to understand design intent.
• Monitor owner and/or contractor directed changes and notify the Project Manager of any potential additional services.
• Check submittals (e.g., shop drawings and product data) to ensure conformance with project contract documents, design intent, and company standards.
• Perform periodic site visits, observations, and inspections, and prepare field reports.
• Evaluate cost-related aspects of the project and administer change orders, proposed changes, construction change directives, substitutions, time delays, and payment applications in accordance with contract and project requirements.
• Facilitate communication between the Owner, Architect, Contractor, and Consultants to build consensus and achieve project goals.
• Lead and collaborate in team meetings to discuss project issues, technical issues, and coordination with other disciplines.
• Prepare and/or review meeting minutes and appropriate documents for consultant coordination meetings.
• Develop, recognize, recruit, and grow diverse talent.
• Manage conflict effectively and encourage a healthy team environment.
• Foster and maintain a collaborative professional working relationship with the project team.
• Deliver projects within defined budget requirements and maintain accountability to the project plan and planned utilization rate.
• Support the business development process by identifying new opportunities, marketing to current clients for repeat business, and assisting with proposals, budgets, and schedules.
Essential Skills
• Accredited professional degree in Architecture, Architectural Engineering, Engineering, Construction Science, or related field preferred.
• Architectural Registration preferred.
• 6+ years of experience with large scale healthcare projects preferred (consideration for other large scale commercial project experience in South Florida).
• Proficiency with architectural and construction software such as Revit, AutoCAD, 3D modeling software, PDF-editing software, BIM, Procore, Bluebeam, etc.
• Strong knowledge of sustainability and integrated design guidelines.
• Strong understanding of the Owner-Architect Agreement, Owner-Contractor Agreement, and Architect-Consultant Agreements.
• Advanced knowledge of architectural building systems, accessibility guidelines, and QA/QC processes.
• Advanced knowledge of building codes and the ability to research and apply/incorporate them into technical documents.
• Experience managing and performing duties in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously.
• Clear, concise, and professional communication skills both verbally and in writing.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
• Experience with healthcare facilities such as hospitals, outpatient centers, emergency rooms, nursing homes, surgical centers, ambulatory surgical centers, and intermediate care facilities.
• Knowledge of construction-related aspects such as operating rooms, building codes, RFIs, submittals, accessibility, and building systems.
Work Environment
Most of the time will be spent on project sites. The office is located in a very nice building in Miami, equipped with brand new technology and housing 100 Architecture Professionals.
