Job Type: Full-time (8 hrs. shift - 40 hrs./week)

About the Role

Our client is seeking a Diagnostic Imaging Service Engineer (also known as a Medical Imaging Equipment Technician or Engineer) to join our Diagnostic Imaging Services Team supporting healthcare facilities in the Miami-Dade, and Fort Lauderdale, FL. areas.

A Diagnostic Imaging Service Engineer is a highly skilled professional responsible for the installation, preventive maintenance, calibration, troubleshooting, and repair of advanced medical imaging systems in hospital environments. This role ensures that all imaging equipment operates safely, efficiently, and in compliance with regulatory standards, directly supporting accurate diagnostics and patient care.



Responsibilities

• Installation & Configuration:

• Install, set up, and integrate imaging systems such as X-ray, CT, MRI, Ultrasound, Fluoroscopy, Mammography, and Nuclear Medicine equipment into clinical environments.

• Preventive & Corrective Maintenance:

• Perform scheduled maintenance, inspections, and performance verification tests to minimize downtime and extend equipment life.

• Troubleshooting & Repair:

• Diagnose technical issues using specialized diagnostic tools and manufacturer documentation; repair or replace components to restore functionality.

• Calibration & Quality Assurance:

• Calibrate imaging devices to ensure accurate and consistent image quality and compliance with OEM specifications and hospital protocols.

• Documentation & Reporting:

• Maintain detailed service logs, calibration records, and compliance documentation align with the corresponding regulatory agencies.

• Customer & Clinical Support:

• Collaborate with radiologists, biomedical equipment technicians, and clinical staff to ensure equipment performance meets clinical needs and workflow efficiency.

• Safety & Compliance:

• Adhere to hospital safety protocols, electrical standards, and radiation safety guidelines. Ensure systems meet local and federal regulatory requirements.

• Vendor & Asset Coordination:

• Work closely with equipment manufacturers and third-party vendors for parts replacement, software updates, and technical escalations.



Core Equipment Supported

• X-ray systems (portable, fixed, and digital radiography units)

• CT (Computed Tomography) scanners

• MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) systems

• Ultrasound machines

• Fluoroscopy and C-Arm systems

• Mammography units

• PET and SPECT imaging systems

• DICOM/PACS/RIS network integrations



Education and Certifications

• Bachelor's degree in Biomedical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Technology, or related field.

• Minimum 3-5 years of experience in medical imaging service (hospital or OEM/ISO environment preferred).

• OEM or third-party certifications on CT, MRI, or X-ray systems (e.g., GE, Siemens, Philips, Canon, Fujifilm) strongly preferred.

• Valid driver's license and ability to travel between hospital sites as required.



Technical Skills

• Strong knowledge of imaging modalities (CT/MRI/X-ray/Ultrasound) hardware and software.

• Proficiency with diagnostic tools, multimeters, oscilloscopes, and calibration instruments.

• Understanding of DICOM standards, networking, and PACS integration.

• Knowledge of radiation physics, safety standards, and electrical schematics.

• Ability to interpret technical service manuals and OEM documentation.

• Excellent problem-solving and analytical thinking.

• Strong communication and interpersonal abilities to work effectively with clinical staff and vendors.

• Time management and ability to prioritize tasks under pressure.

• Customer-oriented mindset with focus on service excellence.

• High attention to detail and commitment to safety and compliance.



Working Conditions

• Hospital-based environment; may require on-call availability, shift work, or travel between multiple facilities.

• Exposure to magnetic fields, radiation areas, and electrical systems (with appropriate PPE and safety procedures).

• Physical activity including lifting, bending, and handling tools/equipment up to 50 lbs.
