Summary


The Regional Director of Safety, Health and Environmental (SHE) will serve as a subject matter expert (SME) in construction safety, with a deep understanding of OSHA regulations and industry’s best practices. S/he provides strategic direction, ensures smooth day-to-day operations, and stays actively involved in every aspect of SHE (Safety, Health, and Environment) performance across the region—from shaping policies and delivering training to leading incident investigations and managing risk. The Regional Director of SHE will be proactive, detail-oriented, and capable of building a strong IIF safety culture while ensuring that business goals and contractual obligations are met.


Roles and Responsibilities


The Regional Director of Safety, Health and Environmental will possess competency in the following areas in order to perform his/her role in a safe, productive, and effective manner. • Collaborates with Senior Management and the BCE Corporate Safety Director to ensure the effective execution of HSE programs and initiatives

• Ensures that all regional leaders have a consistent and unified approach to promoting the IIF culture

• Ensures that comprehensive first aid, medical response, and emergency preparedness plans are in place for all work locations

• Defines and communicates a consistent dynamic vision for IIF Safety to both internal and external customers including but not limited to formal presentations and speaking engagements

• Develops, uses, and maintains region-wide systems for sharing ideas, information, learning, and best practices

• Participates in the job transition process with regional management to identify the safety and IIF cultural responsibilities for a specific project (i.e. safety clinics, safety professional to co-worker ratio, OSHA 10, site specific safety plan, etc..) and develops the information into a working plan

• Maintains comprehensive records related to accident prevention, injuries, and occupational illnesses; prepare and submit required regulatory reports

• Conducts regular audits and evaluations of project locations to assess compliance with the Health and Safety Program and applicable industry standards; recommend and implement corrective actions as needed

• Stays current with all applicable federal, state, local, and site-specific regulations related to workplace health and safety to ensure ongoing compliance and best practices

• Oversees and/or conducts the investigation of job site incidents to identify the root cause and communicates that information to regional management

• Assists operations leads in monitoring SHE expenditures on projects; stay within budget

• Supports project leadership in meeting all SHE requirements during project setup to ensure full compliance from the outset



Requirements


• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or SHE (Safety, Health and Environmental) from an accredited college or university

• Minimum 10 years of related experience leading HSE management of medium and large-scale projects with applicable certifications or equivalent combination of education and experience

• Certification in a related field, or construction experience with OSHA 500

• Certified in risk management and health/safety management

• Proficiency in Microsoft software programs such as Word, Excel and Powerpoint

• High level of confidentiality

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively at all organizational levels

• Strong understanding of data analysis and risk assessment methodologies

• Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations

• Ability to solve practical problems and deal wit
