Primary location: Gainesville, FL â statewide oversight for Gainesville, Jacksonville, Orlando, Tampa and new Florida Markets
Reports to: CEO/President, Comfort Temp Company
Direct reports: Operations Managers (GNV/JAX/ORL/TPA and Brevard and Tallahassee)
Travel 90% (All Florida Markets)

Job Summary
CT Mechanical seeks an experienced, execution-driven Director of Operations to lead all Florida construction operations. This executive role owns statewide consistency in project delivery, profitability, safety, and quality across four branches. The Director will set branch priorities, coach and develop Operations Managers, standardize processes, and drive excellence in preconstruction handoff, planning, field execution, prefab/logistics, QA/QC, commissioning, and turnover.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic leadership
• Lead, mentor, and manage Operations Managers across Gainesville, Jacksonville, Orlando, and Tampa.
• Translate company goals into branch-level operating plans and measurable KPIs.
• Partner with executive leadership on market strategy, capacity planning, and expansion.
Financial & operational oversight
• Full P&L responsibility for construction operations statewide.
• Drive margin protection through rigorous planning, labor forecasting, and productivity management.
• Partner with Estimating and Project Management on bid reviews, buyouts, risk registers, and cost-to-complete.
• Monitor schedule performance, change management, and cash flow; remove roadblocks decisively.
Process standardization & optimization
• Build and enforce standardized SOPs for project delivery: precon handoff, scheduling, prefab, procurement, VDC/BIM coordination, QA/QC, commissioning, and closeout.
• Implement tools and dashboards for schedule, labor, cost, and material visibility (e.g., Procore, Bluebeam, MS Project/Primavera, ERP).
• Elevate prefab and logistics planning to reduce waste, travel time, and site congestion.
Workforce planning & development
• Forecast craft and staff needs; coordinate with Recruiting and HR to meet project demand.
• Develop Operations Managers, PMs, and Superintendents through coaching, goals, and performance plans.
• Champion a strong safety culture and continuous improvement mindset.
Client & stakeholder engagement
• Serve as the executive escalation point for complex project challenges, schedule risks, or coordination issues.
• Maintain senior relationships with GCs, owners, engineers, and strategic vendors.
• Represent CT Mechanical at key industry events and high-impact negotiations.
Safety, quality, and delivery excellence
• Ensure alignment with corporate Safety, QA/QC, and Commissioning standards across all projects.
• Conduct periodic branch/project audits; track corrective actions to closure.
• Drive predictable outcomes: on-time, on-budget, with zero incidents and high punch-list performance.
Requirements & Qualifications
Education
• Bachelor's in Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, Business Administration, or related field (MBA a plus).
Experience
• 12+ years in mechanical contracting (HVAC/plumbing/pipefitting/sheet metal).
• 5+ years in senior operations leadership with multi-branch oversight and full P&L accountability.
• Demonstrated success improving schedule reliability, labor productivity, prefab utilization, and margin.
Skills
• Deep understanding of mechanical systems and construction means/methods in commercial/industrial markets.
• Strong financial and analytical acumen (WIP, ETC/EAC, earned value, cash flow).
• Exceptional leadership, communication, and cross-functional collaboration.
• Proficiency with construction tech (Procore, Bluebeam, MS Project/Primavera, ERP).
• Negotiation and vendor/GC relationship management expertise.
