Summary:
Alvarez Engineers, Inc. (Company) is a Civil Engineering consulting company founded in 1995. Company is seeking a motivated Engineering Intern who has passed, or is committed to passing within six months, the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam and is working toward full professional licensure. The E.I. will support our engineers on FDOT and municipal design projects, gaining hands-on experience in roadway, drainage, utilities, and traffic design while working in a collaborative, mentorship-focused environment.
Job Description
• Employment Type: Full-Time
• Pay: $38-$42 / hour up to 40 hours per week

• Location: Doral, FL
Key Responsibilities
• Assist in the preparation of roadway, drainage, and utility design plans and reports.
• Perform design calculations and support engineers in developing construction documents.
• Utilize software platforms (e.g., MicroStation, OpenRoads Designer, AutoCAD, ArcGIS) for roadway, drainage, traffic, utility design, and site development support.
• Assist engineers with plan preparation, including cross-sections, profiles, typical sections, quantities, and details.
• Coordinate with project managers and senior engineers to ensure compliance with FDOT requirements.
• Participate in internal quality reviews and respond to FDOT comments.
• Continue professional development with a clear track toward P.E. licensure.
Qualifications
• Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering
• Engineering Intern (E.I.) certification
• Knowledge of FDOT standards, specifications, and design practices
• Proficiency in MicroStation/OpenRoads Designer (AutoCAD Civil 3D, ESRI ArcGIS experience a plus)
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
• Ability to work in a team-oriented, high concentration design environment
