Machinist Job Summary


We are seeking a skilled Machinist with expertise in large bore, medium-speed diesel engines to join our maritime operations team. This role is responsible for precision machining, repair, and maintenance of critical engine components used on commercial vessels, offshore platforms, and other marine applications. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in diesel engine overhauls, troubleshooting, and component-level machining to OEM specifications.


Mechanist Responsibilities


• Perform machining, repair, and refurbishment of large bore diesel engine components including cylinder heads, liners, pistons, connecting rods, crankshafts, and bearings.

• Operate lathes, milling machines, boring machines, grinders, and other precision tools.

• Conduct dimensional inspections and ensure components meet manufacturer tolerances and class requirements.

• Assist with full engine overhauls, alignments, and installation of machined parts aboard vessels or in workshop settings.

• Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and OEM manuals.

• Collaborate with engineers, supervisors, and vessel crew to ensure timely completion of projects.

• Maintain accurate records of work performed, parts used, and tolerances achieved.

• Ensure all work adheres to safety standards, quality protocols, and maritime regulations.



Machinist Position Requirements


• Minimum 3–5 years of machining experience with large bore medium-speed diesel engines (MAN, Wärtsilä, Caterpillar MaK, Bergen, etc.).

• Strong knowledge of marine propulsion and auxiliary engines.

• Proficient in precision measuring tools (micrometers, dial indicators, bore gauges, etc.).

• Ability to work independently and in a team environment, both in workshop and onboard ship environments.

• Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as required for shipyard or onboard repair assignments.

• Technical certification or trade school background in machining, marine engineering, or mechanical technology preferred.
