Senior Estimator - GC - Aviation, Government, Commercial

Miami, FL

$160,000-$180,000 + Great Benefits

We are seeking a Senior / Lead Estimator to join a major GC and lead the preparation of detailed and accurate cost estimates for medium to large-scale general construction projects across aviation, government, commercial & civil. You'll play a key role in the preconstruction phase, working closely with internal teams, clients, and subcontractors to ensure every scope of work is accounted for and competitively priced.



As a Senior Estimator, you will be responsible for preparing comprehensive and accurate cost estimates, analyzing addenda, and developing detailed reports to support project planning and bid strategies. You will assist in value engineering initiatives to identify cost-saving opportunities and ensure all scopes of work are complete and properly incorporated into estimates.



This role requires maintaining active communication with subcontractors, coordinating bid packages, and managing document distribution through SmartBid and internal systems. You will review and compare subcontractor and supplier proposals, prepare RFIs for clarification, and support change order reviews when necessary. Additionally, you will ensure compliance with owner participation goals, update estimating databases and templates, contribute to lessons-learned reviews, and assist in maintaining and improving estimating procedures and manuals.



Skills & Competencies:

• Strong knowledge of estimating techniques, cost control, and construction means and methods.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Timberline Estimating & On-Screen Takeoff.

• Ability to interpret and analyze drawings, specifications, schedules, and bid documents.

• Solid understanding of project delivery methods: Lump Sum, Design-Build, CM at Risk, etc.

• Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.

• Technical proficiency in cost engineering, basic accounting, and construction finance.

• Strong presentation and public speaking skills.



Qualifications & Experience:

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field (or equivalent technical training).

• 8-10 years of experience in estimating, cost control, or preconstruction, with at least 4 years focused on estimating for general construction projects.

• Proven ability to manage multiple bids simultaneously and deliver under tight deadlines.
