Bachelor degree in Criminal Justice, Forensic Science, Mortuary Science, Anthropology, Biology or closely related field. Two years of experience in criminal, legal, insurance, forensic, or similar investigative field are required. Additional experience may substitute for the required education on a year-for- year basis. Must complete American Board of Medical Death Investigators (ABMDI) Registered Certification within first year of employment. Must possess a valid driver's license. The successful candidate who is selected for the position of Medicolegal Death Investigator will be exposed to human remains, including remains that are in various stages of decomposition. This will include, but is not limited to, exposure to blood, urine, feces, vomit, exposed internal organs, and foul odors. Responding to scenes is a requirement for this position. The candidate must be able to lift and maneuver the remains in order to perform their scene duties for this position. The Medical Examiner Department will provide personal protective equipment for this position when performing these duties. The candidate who is selected for this position must be prepared to work any of the following work shifts: Days, Afternoons, Nights, rotating shifts, which includes: weekends and holidays.
