The RER Building Code Compliance Officer 1 position is within the Code Compliance Division of the Regulatory & Economic Resources Department. This position involves both office and field work for the purpose of enforcing any applicable Miami-Dade County Codes to include but not limited to Chapter 8 and Chapter 8CC. The incumbent in this position is involved in technical and administrative work which includes the code enforcement and inspection of complaints regarding work without permit violations, failure to maintain structures in a safe condition, and administrative mainframe system review of expired permits. Supervision is received from a Building Code Compliance Officer 2 classification who will review inspection routes daily and case activity and serve to provide guidance in the field and when entering or updating case information. The incumbent should demonstrate the ability to make comprehensive analysis of violations in the field by taking into consideration various research tools available to confirm or deny whether a violation exists. Moreover, this position plays an active role in life safety concerns in the built environment, ensuring that they are addressed in a timely manner and any ongoing illegal construction work that is observed in the field is communicated promptly to management to ensure the wellbeing and safety of the community.

"Bachelor's degree. One year of experience in code enforcement, investigations, or administration at the local, state, or federal level is required. Additional experience in code enforcement, investigations, or administration at the local, state, or federal level may substitute for the required college education on a year for year basis"
