"Position Overview

General Functions:

Responsible for conducting a variety of planned recreational programs and events at City parks such as outdoor or sporting events, games, and leisure activities. Work includes a variety of tasks that require the application of independent judgment and knowledge of regulations and procedures set by policy.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:


• Conducts and/or directs planned recreational program activities at City parks; performs related tasks as required.

• Performs along with facility attendant’s work in the maintenance and care of park grounds and property, including ball-field maintenance.

• May assist and/or supervise facility attendants in the maintenance and care of park grounds and property.

• May assist with the planning and coordinating of recreational activities.

• Ensures the safety of assigned equipment and participants.

• May prepare reports, spreadsheets, surveys, and/or special recreation project work as requested.

• Answers telephone, screens calls, takes and relays messages and information.

• Greets and assists visitors.

• Receive and process registration paperwork for various classes, leagues, facility rentals, memberships, permits, etc.

• Organizes and schedules meetings and events.

• Creates and maintains files for order and retrieval.

• May prepare correspondence, forms, reports, records, requisitions, memoranda and other materials.

• Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Type of Appointment/Work hours:

• Part-time in-person position.

• Work less than the standard workweek, which is forty (40) hours of work per week consisting of five (5) days of eight (8) hours per day or four (4) days of ten (10) hours per day. The work day may be varied for the efficient delivery of public service.

• Will be required to work other than the standard workweek on occasion, including evenings, weekends, and/or holidays.


Qualifications & Work Environment

Requirements:


Must possess a high school diploma or its equivalency.

• Some experience and knowledge in organized recreational and sports activities.

• Must have basic computer knowledge (MS Word, Quattro-Pro, Excel, etc.).

• Must possess and demonstrate good organizational skills.

• Must have good written and verbal skills.

• Must possess a valid Florida Driver’s License with a clean driving record.

• As a condition of hire, applicants must undergo a comprehensive fingerprint-based background screen for statewide and national criminal history records (i.e., a Level II background check).
