The Labor Relations and Discipline section is responsible for reviewing administrative actions such as personnel record summaries (PRS), records of counseling (ROC), disciplinary action reports (DAR), failures of probation (FOP), performance improvement plans (PIP), discipline related Employee Support Service Section (ESSS) mandates, and positive- toxicology substance abuse professional (SAP) mandates. Additionally, this section conducts interviews for performance evaluation review requests and acts as the liaison for the Gainsharing Program. The incumbent must possess strong writing skills as this position is responsible for drafting grievances responses, performance evaluation appeal responses, and final action decision letters and memos. The incumbent must possess strong time management skills as they will be required to navigate a complex environment with overlapping priority deadlines. The incumbent should have knowledge of and understand labor principles and collective bargaining, as these will be utilized when reviewing administrative policies and procedures for implementation. The incumbent must possess strong verbal and nonverbal communication skills to be utilized when presenting administrative cases to the Department Director and providing guidance to operational leadership.

Preferred local government experience and/or experience working with unionized employees.
